Polihale Beach - Kauai

This beach's is famous for it's gigantic 7 mile white sand shoreline. When rain comes to the west shore, it usually misses this lovely beach. Try a sunset here and watch the sunset set over Ni'ihau Island.

Map & Directions

Take Hwy 50 toward the West Side, keep travelling past Kekaha Beach, continue on until you see the Polihale sign on the main road, turn left there onto the dirt road. The dirt road is approximately 4.9 miles to parking area  with pavilions and bathrooms, though there are other access points, if headed to the main parking area, be sure to stay to the right at the big tree and again when the road gives you the choice between left and right. The road is definitely a bumpy ride. It may take about 30-45 minutes to travel this section, but well worth the trip.

This beach has extremely strong currents and a dangerous shore break. Watch for patchy sharp coral.  There is also no rescue support due to it's remote location.
